STAND UP
JOHNNY TAYLOR/Trump. Sugar. Sux. Tragic: Sort of a lot of borrowing from the past here. First, Taylor borrows and changes the titles of an old RHCP album. Second, he borrows from the comic types that didn't lambaste a Republican President so thoroughly in such short a time since Nixon's second term. Saying all he has to say in the space of an ep about the current state of politics, people insisting they look the other way have someone to speak for them as they look the other way together.

JACKIE KASHIAN/I Am Not the Hero of This Story: Wow, a classic set of rat a tat tat stand up in contemporary clothes. An Armenian woman from Wisconsin, her world view is world wide but it's unhampered by hipness from either coast as this delivers heartland laughs from the heart. A high octane laugh riot with the jokes and stories coming along so hard and fast, even on the off chance something you don't laugh at comes along, there's one will you hurt your sides laughing at coming around the next corner. Give this gal a video camera and a brick wall to stand in front of and let her lead the next wave of the golden age of comedy.

JENNY ZIGRINO/JZ's New Record: The product of a Russian/Jewish mother and an Italian father, Zigrino is bringing back the golden age of Jewish stand up with the kind of modern edge you didn't find in the most of the comedy cats that brought Jewish humor into the new suburban rec rooms of the times. As much as there's been a bunch of funny Jewish gals working the boards lately, Zigrino has that something extra that makes it pretty clear she's holding the key to being the next real break out star. A four star laugh riot from a wit that can easily make fun of anything and everything including herself, none of it with vitriol. Settle in for a wild ride with a gal that's got one of the best senses of humor around.
